Now WHat?
This will probably come to mind at each turning point of your venture into the Professional writing field. We would go so far as to say it should, because so much of what we Professional Writers do- so much of what we get paid for- is our ability to step into a problem no one else has been able to solve, analyze what factors are involved, and craft something that can solve the problem now, given the factors, with room to adapt in the future. We're blazing trails no one before us has been able to carve out. That is our supreme marketable skill, and it is not gained overnight.
Without a doubt that's something to be proud of, something to advertise to the world that needs those skills pretty much everywhere businesses are found, but we'd be lying to ourselves if we said we were never unsure about what to do next at any one point of a project. Thus we talk the always tight line between the security and predictabilty of a template and the chaotic hazards of writing ouside the lines, when the client needs us to.
Here to the left are our humble experiences trying to walk that line, complete with samples of our actual work with actual clients. Just mouse over "Genres and Samples" to call up the pop-out list.
